Exploitation Disguised as Kids Reality Shows
Today reality shows plays a very important role in bringing fresh talents to lime light. And specifically children based reality shows have gained a lot of popularity among Indian Population. These reality shoes “Judge” children on various talents like dancing, singing and comedy.
At an age when a child could not figure out difference between reality and fantasy, they are made to carry the burden of multimillion dollar business on their fragile shoulders. In many entertainment and performing reality TV shows, the benefits for participating children are far less as compared to the damaging effect that the experience can have. It is important to keep in mind that this is not a standard situation of competition for growing children. Children are in a phase of emotional development where they are not emotionally equipped to handle rejection in a mature demeanor; and when they are not appreciated or fail to qualify, their mental state could affect the way they handle pressure situations for the rest of their future. They are constantly compared to others; and there is huge pressure on them to perform well. This may result in them feeling as though they have let down their parents, siblings, or other significant relationships such as friends, etc.
Therefore it should be made sure that such sure that takes away innocence from childhood and brings a lot of premature anxiety depression and stress, should be banned and even if they are permitted than there must not be any judging criteria by so called “Celebrities”. Because there is a bright child in every child
